St. Maximilian outlast St. George in high-scoring affair, 10-9 

Pitchers had a tough day during the game between St. Maximilian and St. George, as the two teams put up 19 runs combined in a 10-9 St. Maximilian win. 

The teams combined for 43 hits, including 11 extra base hits. 

St. Maximilian staved off St. George as St. George was unable to match St. Maximilian down the stretch. 

St. George scored five runs in the seventh on an RBI double by Walt Patrylo, a three-run home run by Tony Perconte, and an RBI single by Frederick Wustefeld. Despite its efforts, St. George couldn't finish the comeback. 

 

 

Steve Burton racked up two RBIs on three hits for St. Maximilian. He tripled in the first inning and singled in the third and seventh innings. 

 

St. Maximilian never trailed after scoring two runs in the first on a two-run triple by Burton. 

St. George pushed across one run in both the first inning and the second. In the first, St. George scored on an RBI single by David Eckert, plating Patrylo. 

St. Maximilian built upon its lead with two runs in the second. A hit into a fielder's choice scored Rich McNanna for the inning's first run. That was followed up by Jason Semple's single, scoring Russell Voorhees

St. George scored one run in the bottom of the second to cut its deficit to two. An RBI single by Jim Sosinski fueled St. George's comeback. St. Maximilian stopped the rally after John Deitch got Corey Woodring to. 

A two-run third inning helped bring St. George within one. A solo home run by Patrylo and an RBI single by Ryan Peters triggered St. George's comeback. The St. George threat came to an end when Deitch finally got James Richey to ground out. 

St. Maximilian piled on five more runs in the top of the fifth. The inning looked promising, as Stephen Mavrakes doubled, bringing home Jason Semple to kick things off. That was followed up by Deitch's single, plating Mavrakes.
